I believe that Holden acts a lot like a teenager. He doesn't really care about school obviously because he dropped out of more than one. A lot of teens these days don't try in school and Holden seems to fit into that group. We all have times in our lives when we don't want to do anything, and Holden is going through that now.
I can't really say how much I like the book because we have only read 4 chapters. So far this book is ok, but I have liked others better. I think it is kind of repetitive in some parts. The word choice that Holden uses is really annoying to me. I think I will like the book more when we get further into it, but for now it is kind of boring.

  1. Its good to not jump to conclusions about reading the book. I think that you are going about it the right way. The fact that you see Holden as being somewhat stereotypical of teens, means that you are following the main theme of the book.
