I believe that Holden acts a lot like a teenager. He doesn't really care about school obviously because he dropped out of more than one. A lot of teens these days don't try in school and Holden seems to fit into that group. We all have times in our lives when we don't want to do anything, and Holden is going through that now.
I can't really say how much I like the book because we have only read 4 chapters. So far this book is ok, but I have liked others better. I think it is kind of repetitive in some parts. The word choice that Holden uses is really annoying to me. I think I will like the book more when we get further into it, but for now it is kind of boring.

Compare and Contrast
The movie Tuesdays with Morrie is similar to the book in some ways. The part when Mitch goes to visit Morrie is pretty much the same. He pretends to be looking for his keys when he is really on the phone. Morrie acts very friendly and Mitch is a little vulnerable to the situation. The ABC interview is the same in the movie. Mitch sees Morrie on the news program Nightline, and decides to go visit. It is the same interview that we watched as a different assignment.
The book and the movie also differ in some parts. When Morrie shows Mitch the breathing test, he does it and only counts to 12. He says that the week before he only got to 16. In the book Morrie counted to 18 and and 23 the week before. That was a main difference that I saw. Everything else was similar.
I do think that watching the interview and the movie is beneficial because it gives you a visual of what is happening in the book. Even though the movie is different than the book, it still gives you a picture in your head. Overall, I think that watching the movie is helpful for me.

This interview was very eye opening for me. It amazes me how much Morrie cares for other people, even when he is battling death. It was sad to see him on the interview because he looked so fragile and breakable. When they were giving him a massage, it was disturbing in a way because he is so skinny and pale. It looked kind of painful.
Morrie reminds me of my late grandmother in so many ways. When she was dying of lung cancer, she seemed to put everybody in front of herself. She would take care of me and my family before worrying about herself. She accepted that she was going and moved on and lived the rest of her life. Morrie did the same thing. In the interview he said to open your heart and let others in, and that made me smile because it is what we should do. We should not worry so much about ourselves, but more about the others around us. Morrie touched me with his story and I was happy to do this assignment.
